We are switching off our fax machine on 31.12.2019 -

As you will be aware NHS trusts will be banned from purchasing new fax machines beyond January 2019, after the health and social care secretary ordered a complete phase-out of the technology by April 2020.

Under the directive of Matt Hancock, NHS organisations have been instructed to remove all fax machines from operation by 31 March 2020 and move toward more modern and secure methods of communication.

Therefore we are going to send correspondence via email only; either to an accounts or encrypted email after 31.12.2019.  If you do not have access to an email you will have to send correspondence via post.

We have an area outside the surgery that is in need of development, and feedback from our patients shows an interest in gardening. We will be looking at gathering a group of patients of the practice who wish to be involved in developing this area.

Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
A new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) opens on 29 April 2019 at the Tameside Hospital site (next to A&E).

The new centre – our new broader and better offer – replaces the existing Walk in Centre (WIC) at Ashton Primary Care Centre (which closes the day before).

Initially people with an urgent need will be able seek support at the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) by walking in between 9.00am – 9.00pm, 7 days a week.

Later in the year as well as the ability to walk in, anyone registered with a GP practice in Tameside & Glossop will have access to a range of bookable appointments through their GP or NHS111.  This will complement the range of appointments currently available in the evenings and at weekends through the Primary Care Access Service (PCAS).

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  All calls may be monitored, recorded, stored and used in any telephone, email or other communication with you, in order to check any instructions given to us for training purposes, crime prevention and to improve the quality of our services.

Other Changes To Our Opening Hours

From 24th September there will be a few changes to our opening hours.

The surgery will open until 6:30 pm on Fridays (instead of 6pm).
